Terms of service

These terms apply to employers and recruiters who use InterviewStack for Recruiters. You agree to them on behalf of your organisation when you create a workspace and again when you buy credits; both screens say so.

Last updated 10 September 2026. The contracting party is named in the footer of this page; no purchase is offered until it is. A postal address is available on request.

The service

InterviewStack provides AI-conducted screening interviews: you configure a screening, invite candidates, and receive the recording, transcript, written assessment and session context for each interview. The interview is 30 minutes. The assessment is evidence for your decision; it is not a decision, a recommendation or a ranking, and you are responsible for every hiring decision you make and for how you use the material. See how the assessment works.

Accounts and workspaces

You sign in with a work email address. One person creates the workspace and is its owner; an owner can invite hiring managers as members and can make another member a co-owner, so your organisation keeps the workspace, its credits and its interviews when people change roles or leave. If the only owner has left, we transfer ownership to a person your organisation names, on a verified request. You are responsible for the people you invite and for keeping invite links, review links, API keys and webhook secrets confidential. Tell us at support@interviewstack.io if any of them is exposed.

Credits and payment

  • Interviews are paid for with credits. One credit is used when a candidate starts a real interview and is returned if we cannot create the interview. Practice runs, plan generation, invites, reminders and team members do not use credits.
  • New workspaces receive three free credits, once per account. Credits are bought in the packs shown on the pricing page, paid by card through Stripe, in US dollars; prices exclude any sales tax or VAT you may owe. Prices can change; a change never affects credits already bought.
  • Credits are valid for 12 months from the purchase or grant they came from and are used oldest first; unused credits expire after that, with an email to the workspace owner 30 days before. Credits are not transferable between workspaces. Credits are non-refundable, except where the law requires it, if we discontinue the service, or if you terminate under the data processing agreement's subprocessor clause; in those cases unused credits are refunded pro rata to what you paid for them, and the credits return to us.
  • If a payment is reversed by your card issuer, the credits it bought are removed and we may suspend the workspace until it is settled.

Acceptable use

  • Use the service only to screen candidates for genuine roles at your organisation, with the notice and consent the candidate pages provide, and in line with the employment and anti-discrimination law that applies to you, including any duty to give notice of AI use, to provide a human review, or to hold an audit.
  • Do not use the assessment as the sole basis for a decision, do not rank candidates against each other with it, and do not attempt to extract or reverse-engineer the interview plans, prompts or models.
  • Do not invite people who have not applied to you, use the open apply link to collect data for another purpose, or share candidate recordings and transcripts beyond the people involved in the hiring decision.
  • Do not probe, overload or attack the service; see the responsible disclosure policy for good-faith security research.

We may suspend a workspace that breaks these rules. We tell you why and, where the breach can be fixed, give you a chance to fix it.

Candidate data

You are the data controller for your candidates' data; InterviewStack processes it on your behalf under the data processing agreement, which applies to every workspace as part of these terms (a countersigned copy is available on request). Retention is set per workspace; you can delete a candidate at any time. What candidates are told is in the candidate privacy notice.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation; an interview that fails to start returns its credit. We improve the service continuously; a change to what is scored, or to what you receive, is recorded on the relevant policy page. If we discontinue the service we give at least 60 days' notice and refund unused credits.

Intellectual property

You own your screening configuration, your candidates' data and the outputs produced for you. We own the service, its software and prompts; the language models are licensed from the providers listed on the subprocessors page. You grant us the right to process your data to provide the service; we do not use candidate data to train models.

Liability

The service is provided as described on these pages, without other warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service in a 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, and neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

General

These terms, the data processing agreement and the policies linked from this site are the whole agreement between us. We may update these terms; material changes are notified to workspace owners by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Questions: support@interviewstack.io.
